The Electrochemistry Laboratory (EL) is part of the Chemistry Institute in the College of Science, of the UCV. Professor H. Gómez, of the EL group specializes in the synthesis and characterization of thin films and nanostructured II-VI semiconductors by electrodeposition, with particular focus in nucleation and growth mechanism. Currently, research into the synthesis of thin II-VI compounds is being carried out. The expertise and skills available will drive the development of new buffer/window layers (W8 and WP9). Facilities available through the EL (SEM, AFM, IMPS, XPS and XRD) will directly benefit the project. EL has a long history of scientific collaborations with different laboratories in North America, South America and Europe.

Expertise and Facilities: The Electrochemistry Lab group is specialized in the synthesis and characterization of thin films and nanostructured II-VI semiconductors by electrodeposition, with particular focus in nucleation and growth mechanism. CdS, CdTe, ZnSe, ZnO, CdO, In2S3, Fe2O3, Cu2O, CuO are currently prepared. Optical, magnetic, structural and morphological properties are characterized with the instrumental facilities available in the lab (SEM, AFM, IMPS) as well as in other universities of the region through cooperation agreements (XPS and XRD).
